Project Schedule –The schedule presented above is a simplified schedule of the overall process/project, which is anticipated to take nine months to complete. As the project moves forward, a number of Study Oversight Committee Meetings and Community Workshop Meetings will be held. Please refer to “Meetings” to find dates of upcoming meetings.
| Term | Definition |
Economic Market Analysis |
Examine the potential market for commercial, industrial, and residential development in and around Route 44 and propose a future business profile for the study area based on what the market would support |
Analysis of Land Use, Environmental Constraints, and Zoning Assessment |
Document existing opportunities and constraints for future land use change in the study area. Constraints are things like wetlands and steep slopes where development should not happen. Opportunities may be things like availability of sewer service where development can be more easily supported. The zoning assessment will look at what the regulations allow now and how that will affect land use in the future. It will also identify and recommend areas for change to the regulations. |
Focus Area Development Concepts |
Present a map of possible development concepts for land use in the focus areas. These will be defined ‘nodes’ where the community would like to see development be concentrated in the future |
Transportation System Assessment |
Assess the conditions of the transportation system and the surrounding environment as they currently exist. This includes roads, transit routes, sidewalks, paths, and greenways |
Interchange Assessment |
Assess the I-384-Route 44-Route 6 interchange and the surrounding environment as it currently exists and consider what barriers and opportunities it creates for future development along Route 44 |
Vision Strategic Plan |
Integrate the community vision for land use, with the recommendations for the development ‘nodes’, preservation areas, the market profile, and transportation system components into a complete vision strategic plan for the study area. Complement this with a set of steps for how to put the plan’s recommendations into action. |
